About the team:
The Infrastructure and Network Software Development - is responsible for the development of internal tooling used for 1&1 Internet both backend platform and frontend management UIs.
We are an experienced team developing applications and tools that are used in a very complex ecosystem. Active projects are focusing on developing Orchestrators for Datacenter and Network infrastructure. We are staying in contact with DevOps technologies like Kubernetes/OpenShift, Docker containers, Jenkins and others. We are working in a very friendly environment and we support each team member to evolve and learn new technologies. We have a proficiency in Open Source technologies and encourage every member to become a contributor to different Open Source projects.
You will be working on a huge project, Enhanced Backup, that does backup to millions of web hosts every day, up to 2 Peta/day. It is composed of many modules and works closely to the linux operating system and its complex file system. The whole project has about 750,000 lines of code.
Main responsibilities:
- Work closely with Product Owners, Architects to define the best technical solutions that match our product vision;
- Work closely with other engineers to develop new products;
- Work on extensions of existing products;
- Very good written and verbal English skills;
- Take part in all phases of development, maintenance and housekeeping of the Enhanced Backup solution.

- C++: Excellent, Versions of C++ from STD17;
- Network Programming in C++ - TCP, UDP;
- Multithreading in C++ - Used by the app;
- C++ STL - Used by the app;
- CMAKE 3.3: Very Good, For project management and building;
- Linux - (Debian OS): Very Good, The base OS used for the machines in EHB;
- Linux OS File System - Understanding of Linux file system hierarchy and permissions;
- Linux processes - Process Management: Knowledge of Linux process management, including signals, forking, and IPC;
- Rest API: Good, For API building;
- Google Test Framework: Good, For UnitTesting;
- Python 3.12: Medium, For integration testing and other utilities;
- Docker & docker-compose: Low, For local development environment;
- OpenSSL 3.0: Low, For secure communication.
Other apps and technical knowledge that is useful:
- General backup theory - The app is a backup app;
- Block based backup theory - Needed for backup/restore operations;
- C++ Concepts - Used by the app;
- Lib Boost - Used by the app;
- Protobuf - Used for serializing structured data;
- Bash scripting - Needed for deployments, automating stuff.
